319) SPANISH, 12TH CENTURY CAPITAL WITH FIGURES OF ANGELS AT THE CORNERS WITH CLUSTERS OF GRAPES IN THE CENTER: By tradition it made its way into the open market after Napoleon attacked Monseratt and destroyed the Monastery in 1811-12. The Monastery of Montserrat was founded during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. While visiting Monseratt in Spain I found a similar capital still intact (picture above). I've included a picture of a similar capital that was sold in Sotheby's on July 5th 2016 in London lot # 2 for 7,500 GBP plus 25% buyers premium and shipping (about $15,000 US). Yes, the Sotheby's example is in better condition, but mine is priced at a fraction of this and includes delivery in the U.S. and has a powerful provenance.
