2042) ULTRA RARE TEMPLAR STONE CROSS FROM A TEMPLAR GRAVE:
Introduction: The stories this Templar cross could tell. By tradition, it entered the collectors’ market in Italy after World War II; it is believed to have originated from a bombed church cemetery. Not in the best condition after having been outdoors for hundreds of years; however, still an exceptional rarity that is seldom available on the collectors’ market.
Discussion: Templars were founded in 1118 and disbanded by Pope Clement V in 1312. Despite their dissolution between 1317 and 1319, several Templar knights, properties, gold, and other valuable assets were absorbed by the Portuguese Order of Christ and the Spanish Order of Montesa. Therefore, the Templar Knights could have continued to exist under another name for many years after 1312. So it’s possible to have an actual Templar item even after 1312.
Dimensions: Approximately 9 inches x 7.5 inches x 3 inches; actual cross-section: 4 inches x 1.5 inches x 4.5 inches.
